Sumberawan temple located in Saptorenggo Village, 3 KM from the famous Singosari Temple. To reach there, the only one way is by private transportation like car, motorcycle, or bycycle.
As you have arrived in front of the nearest way to Sumberawan Temple, you have to park your vehicle at the local people waroong the one and only, and pay two thousand rupiahs for each. We suggest you to buy some mineral water or snacks at the waroong, because you wouldn’t have one inside the temple’s area.
To reach the Temple area, you have to walk on the ricefield for about 500 meters. Better you come in the morning because the weather are still clean and fresh. The scenery are beautiful, with the collaboration of the river, ricefields, bamboo trees and the farmers working, also the silhouettes of the Arjuna mountain that could be seen from there.

Sumberawan temple are one of the temples in Malang that become the heritage of the Singhasari Kingdom with the famous legend of Ken Arok and Ken Dedes. Different with another temple built in Singhasari Dinasty, Sumberawan Temple have the different style of architectural design that more likely have the character of Buddhist Temple than Hindust Temple like the others. The square, low, and wide formed, Sumberawan Temple feel more quiet and meditative as Buddhist Temple character generally.
The temple are built among the forest. The atmosphere are so quiet and misty. It’s very suitable for you who crave for peaceful of mind and need some meditation. There’s a square room near the temple that actually used for meditation. This is explainable because the mineral contained on the water are so good and high, of course it will be very good for us to use or consume it. The local people themselves still go to the water spring almost everyday for take a bath or just looking for the freshness although they’re already having their own bathroom at home. They said that it’s more fresh and satisfiying to take a bath everyday at the spring than at home.

If you go with no special purpose such as meditation, but only for travel and get relaxed, so you can just take a sit under the trees around the temple.
